Sentidos at Rio Real is located in one of the most privileged tourism destinations in the world, beneath the Sierra Blanca and in the heart of the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. Together with the neighbouring provinces of Cadiz, Huelva, Granada, Jaen, Seville, Almeria and Cordoba, Malaga forms the vast region of southern Spain known as Andalucia.
We are situated only 3 km from the heart of Marbella, a city known world-wide for its excellency in shopping, restaurants and leisure activities. The region has been influenced by the Arabs and Moors with a history pre-dated to the Romans during the biblical times. Recent discoveries point to the fact that in the 7th Century BC, there were Phoenician and Punic settlements in the Rio Real area.
Today Marbella finds itself as one of the safest cities in Spain. With an average temperature of 21 degrees and typically 320 days of sunshine a year, this perennially popular region is often referred to as enjoying "three springs and a summer", making it one of the world's most privileged locations for sports enthusiasts.
Being Marbella's first "Boutique Hotel", it captures the essence of the traditional Andalusian atmosphere and enhances them to elegant and contemporary comfort. The hotel is decorated by the well-known interior designer Pascua Ortega, and is built at the heart of the Rio Real Golf course, which stretches from the mountains of Sierra Blanca to the Mediterranean sea.
Its limited number of bedrooms and suites allows us to provide the most exclusive services and the highest standard of personalised attention. It's the small details that make the difference.
Rio Real Golf course was designed by the foremost Spanish gold architect Javier Arana and opened in 1965. Spreading over a beautiful valley, the course is set in splendid surroundings on gently undulating terrain, softly slopping towards the Mediterranean. Backed by the Sierra Blanca, which culminates at 1,500 metres, it forms a natural shelter and creates a subtropical climate even during the winter months, which are extremely mild. This offers the perfect conditions to play golf year round. In the past year, the club has benefited from several major improvements, namely replanted fairways, new greens, enlargement of cart paths and refurbishment of the clubhouse and its facilities. It is one of the top three courses in Costa del Sol and in 2002 was considered the most improved course of the year.
